AE-FUNAI COLLEGE OF MEDICINE RECEIVES APPROVAL FOR PRE-CLINICAL ACCREDITATION


The College of Medicine, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, has received approval for Pre-Clinical Accreditation from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

This good news was conveyed by the Secretary of the Council, Dr. T. A. B. Sanusi in a letter dated 27th April, 2021 with reference number MDCN/1617/vol.1/84 to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Sunday Elom.

 It states: “Council at its 6th plenary meeting held from 19th to 21st April, 2021 at Abuja has considered the report of the verification visitation team sent to your College of Medicine on the on 5th March, 2021.

“I am to convey approval for Pre-Clinical Accreditation of your College. You are to adhere strictly to a training of fifty (50)”, the letter stated.

 The Council Registrar, Dr. Sanusi, also noted in his letter, "Please notice that if you schedule the Part 1 professional exams you are expected to advise the Council so that we can send observers for the test."

With this authorisation, the 2nd MB exams can be started by the University College of Medicine.

Remember, on 9 March, 2021, Nigeria Medical & Dental Council visited the University to accredit the MBBS program pre-clinically.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction at the feat while responding to the approval and noted that the pre-clinical accreditation for the university's Medical College was a landmark. In addition, AE-FUNAI achieved what other universities have been trying to achieve for several years.

He also took the opportunity to maintain that the University's MBBS program was the flagship and ensure that all the items required to ensure quality and competitive medical education are given to students.

Appreciation for Pre-Klinical Accreditation was granted by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria to the Federal University, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State.

The Council secretary Dr T. A. B. Sanusi forwarded this good news to the University's vice-chancellor, Professor Sunday Elom, in a letter dated 27 April 2021 with a reference number MDCN/1617/vol.1/84.

It states: "The Council considered the report of the verification team sent to your College of Medicine on 5 March 2021, during its sixth Plenary Meeting in Abuja from 19 to 21 April 2021.

"I must express the pre-clinical accreditation authorisation of your college."
